Application Requirements

  1. ESG Benchmark Awards
This award acknowledges corporations which are listed on Hang Seng ESG Indexes with exceptional ESG performance, evaluated based on HKQAA Sustainability Rating and Research Methodology.
  • Applicants MUST be one of the selected constituents of Hang Seng ESG Indexes on or after 1 January 2023.

If applicants have met above requirements, they will automatically enter into all sub-categories under ESG Benchmark Awards, they are

1.1 Outstanding Performance in Environmental Responsibility (exclusive)
1.2 Outstanding Performance in Social Responsibility (exclusive)
1.3 Outstanding Performance in Corporate (exclusive)

  1. Outstanding ESG Awards
This award acknowledges corporations of varying sizes and sectors with exceptional ESG performance, evaluated based on a range of sustainability metrics.

2.1 Listed Company
  • Large market capitalization (>HK$50 billion)
  • Medium market capitalization (HK$10-50 billion)
  • Small market capitalization (< HK$10 billion)
  • GEM board
2.2 Non-Listed Company
  • Large Enterprise (with >= 100 employees)
  • SME (with < 100 employees)
2.3 NGO / NPO
  • Able to provide non-profit organization certificate (exemption document under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance); OR

  1. Outstanding ESG Product and Service Awards
This award acknowledges corporations that provide:
  • Funds, ETFs or MPFs with ESG considerations as a primary investment focus in line with their investment objectives or business strategies.
  • Reporting, consultation services and digital solutions that align with the principle of ESG practices.
  1. Criteria set by Funds Managers – Distinguished ESG Company

Only applicable to entrants from Category 1 & 2.1 (Listed Company).
This award acknowledges the contributions made by funds managers, including but not limited to:

  • Engage with company / corporation in its portfolio to encourage ESG practices.
  • Promote the degree of transparency of ESG practices, strategies and performance disclosure.
  • Encourage the relevant practitioners to possess relevant expertise in implementing ESG strategies.
  1. Best Sustainable Vision Award

Only applicable to entrants from Category 1 – 3
This award acknowledges corporates with a clear set of governance structure and policies that set the tone to determine the sustainability missions in promoting a net zero carbon footprint, including but not limited to:

  • Establish clear sustainability goals
  • Allocate adequate resources
  • Regular progress and performance monitoring and report
  1. ESG Learning and Development Awards

This award acknowledges corporations that have:

  • Taken steps to educate and guide their internal stakeholders, staff, supplier, investor and partners on the evolving requirements of ESG through the establishment of training programs or guidance.
  • Demonstrated a commitment to creating a sustainable future for the community and future generations by hosting workshops and sharing sessions to spread awareness about ESG considerations.
  1. ESG Innovative Project Awards

Only applicable to entrants from Category 1 – 3

Corporation representatives are required to show one case study of their achievements to the jury panel at an presentation session.

The award acknowledges corporations that integrated innovative concepts to their ESG commitments and operations, resulting in the implementation of projects with tangible positive impacts on society and of significant business value.

  1. ESG Elite Awards

Entrants are required to showcase their achievements to the jury panel at an presentation session.
This award recognizes the senior management individuals following (including but not limited to) accomplishments based on the ESG principles:

  • demonstrate leadership and commitment to integrating ESG considerations into business strategy and operations.
  • Participate in engagement with stakeholders, such as investors, customers, and employees, on ESG issues.
  1. Honorary Awards

By Invitation ONLY and based on nominee(s)’ pioneering achievements in ESG.

9.1 Company / Organisation
Recognising corporate(s) who have an exemplary performance within the ESG that inspires others to follow suit and have a significant impact to Hong Kong.
9.2 Individual
Recognising professional(s) who have devoted their lifetime, creating extraordinary impacts on the ESG development in Hong Kong with success stories to share.
9.3 Outstanding Sustainability Dividend Award
Outstanding Sustainable Dividend Award is an award given to publicly listed companies that have demonstrated a consistent and sustained dividend payment to their shareholders over a period of time. This award recognizes companies that have a strong commitment to returning value to their shareholders through dividend payments.
